The number of marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers and mental health counselors with active licenses in Florida. Other behavioral healthcare professionals, such as psychologists or school psychologists, are not included in this measure.

Looking at numbers of professionals or facilities within a geographic area helps to focus on the availability of health care and its quality.

Licensure data are for a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). The specialty information for medical doctors is reported voluntarily and is neither required nor verified by the Department.
The state total may be greater than the sum of the counties due to licensed practitioners whose county was unknown.
This is primary, quantitative data.
All population-based rates are calculated using July 1 Florida population estimates from the Florida Legislature, Office of Economic and Demographic Research.
