Total resident live births is a count of births to women who live in Florida. When displayed as a rate, it is the number of births per 1000 population. The birth rate is an item of interest because it provides a standardized measure for monitoring the general increase or decrease in births. When applied specifically to age groups, such as teens, or to geographic areas, such as states, counties or countries, one can make comparisons between them.
In 2021, in Alachua County, the rate per 1,000 total population that were Resident Live Births (All) was 9.4 compared to Florida at 9.8. When an age range is not selected or shown, an ending age of 999 is used to retrieve all records up to and including the oldest age.
Alachua County is in the second quartile for this measure. This means that relative to other counties in Florida, the situation occurs more often in about half of the counties, and it occurs less often in about one quarter of the counties. The map illustrates county data by quartile. It is shown when there are at least 51 counties with data for this measure.
