Deaths From Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease marked by high levels of sugar in the blood.

Having diabetes increases the risk of heart disease and stroke and can lead to other serious complications, such as kidney failure, blindness, and amputation of a toe, foot, or leg. People with diabetes spend more on health care, have fewer productive years, and miss more work days compared to people who don’t have diabetes.

In 2021, the age-adjusted rate per 100,000 population of Deaths From Diabetes (All) in Alachua County was 25.1 compared to Florida at 24.2. Since the oldest age at death varies, an ending age of 999 is used to retrieve all records up to and including the oldest age.
