Foster care is a safe and stable temporary living arrangement for children who cannot live with their families.

Foster care aims to provide children with a safe, stable, and nurturing environment until they can either reunite with their families or find a new permanent home. Children in foster care may experience many positive impacts in their life: healing from past trauma, gaining access to more opportunities, and developing in both mental and emotional health.

In 2023, the rate per 100,000 of Children in Foster Care (Aged 0-17 Years) in Alachua County was 472.2 compared to Florida at 482.8. The line graph shows change over time when there are at least three years of data.
