Childhood Obesity

Within the last 16 years, the percentage of middle and high school students who are overweight or obese has remained consistent, reaching 29.5% in 2025. Childhood obesity can stem from a variety of factors. Only 19.2% of all middle and high school students were physically active for at least 60 minutes on all seven of the past seven days in 2025. Other behaviors that influence excess weight gain include access to healthy food sources, insufficient sleep, and tobacco use.
